LANX has spent the last 2 years building up our company face-to-face by appearing at many events and artisan markets. It's always a pleasure to meet customers in person and allow them try on our footwear, however if we are very honest market life can be a tough a gig when the British weather decides to rear its ugly and wet head.
One thing that kept us going on the markets were big flasks of warm coffee and good homemade grub. In fact market traders are spoilt for excellent food choices, hence why some us carry a bit of extra timber. LANX staff looked forward to certain markets where their favourite food trader would be attending and more often than not that would be wherever Great North Pie would be selling their award winning pies.
Great North Pie is based in Wilmlsow, just south of Manchester, and pride themselves on buying the best quality ingredients and working with producers from around the North West. In addition to being awarded “North West Fine Food Producer of the Year” they have won 9 categories at the British Pie Awards, as well as winning the overall competition.
A few months back we got in touch with Neil, the founder, to see if he would consider making us a LANX collab pie. He was a bit surprised a business related to the fashion world were after a pie of their own, but after a bit of arm twisting he agreed, but only on the proviso we would make him a sneaker. We agreed and the "Pie & Sneakers Project" was born, a unique collab made in heaven (also known as the North of England).
After a bit of back and forth with recipes and designs we got the job done. Neil wanted his GNP sneakers clean, minimal and precise, just like his brand and beautiful pies. He opted for our popular Sankey sneaker upper and changed the colours of the sole and rear heel collar, with the GNP logos included on the sole and gold foiled on to the heal.
We wanted our pie to be traditional, with links to Lancashire, but with a twist, similar to the LANX brand and our footwear. Our pie is therefore a "Lancashire Hot Hot Pie", a traditional Lancashire Hot Pot pie with a subtle spicy kick. Having tasted the samples it's a belter.
The pies are available from Great North Pie website, at the many markets they attend, plus their very popular cafes in Altrincham and Ambleside. The sneakers are available via Great North Pie or via the LANX website. When purchasing the collab sneakers you also get a pack of 4 GNP pies delivered to the same postal address, perfect for sharing or scoffing all to yourself.
