MANUFACTURING

LANX is proud to operate our own Lancashire based footwear factory and also work with a fantastic network of small independent partners who supply us with various; components, leathers, footwear, socks and clothing. Most are located in the UK, some in the same village as us and a few we have to jump on a plane to visit. All our partner suppliers have been visited by a member of the LANX team to inspect working conditions and that they meet our high expectations for manufacturing and employment standards.

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 in 2020 we have found it imperative to not only manufacture our own shoes, but also source footwear, leather and components from a variety of suppliers both in the UK and overseas. The reason for this is to maintain supply of materials and footwear all year round. When one of our partners (or a whole country) has to suddenly stop production we can shift sourcing to another location. Without the supply of continuous materials and footwear our business will cease to exist. Working in this manner allows us to maintain production, a steady flow of income and most importantly save jobs.

We are very proud to have our own shoe manufacturing factory and shoe care workshop in Whalley, Lancashire. This sits alongside our Whalley Warehouse shop, which is open 10-4 daily. Pop in for a brew and a natter soon!

Despite the long history of county rivalry we are very pleased to work with our partner shoe factory in Yorkshire. They have over 70 years footwear making experience.

Located in the beautiful rural suburbs of Porto we are delighted to work with a small family owned shoe factory with over 50 years of manufacturing pedigree. Porto is the traditional hub of Portuguese shoe manufacturing and home to some of the best producers of footwear in the world.

Our partner factory in India has over 60 years of footwear manufacturing experience. We have a superb relationship with the factory owner who studied at the University of Manchester.

LANX socks are proudly made in England by one of the last remaining family run socks manufacturers in the United Kingdom. Neil and his trusty team have been making proper socks for over 100 years.

All our sweatshirts and t-shirts are made by English Fine cottons. There mission is to "bring cotton spinning back to its spiritual home in the North West of England ."

The LANX rugby shirt has been in development for 12+ months, largely because we had to search the length and breadth of the UK to find a factory who still made rugby shirts to the very high quality we required. After months of “digging like demented moles”, we stumbled across Roy.

Roy has been in textiles for the last 52 years and his connection with rugby shirts goes back a staggering 30+ years. Back in the 90’s Roy worked with some of the long established names from British sportswear manufacturing, and when one of his previous employers closed down their UK production in the early 2000’s Roy bought their knitting equipment and set up on his own.

Alongside his partner Helen, Roy had produced us a 14 gauge single jersey, in a 310 gram/m2 weight. Each of these rugby jerseys are made with 100% cotton, of which the yarns can be traced back to their Portuguese origins. We know what you're thinking… “They don’t build ‘em like that anymore”. Well Roy still does, and we are very proud to work with him and his team.

All the embroidery on our various clothing pieces is done by a small family owned business in the village of Whalley, 2 minutes from the LANX HQ front door.

We work with a family owned packaging manufacture in Rossendale, Lancashire, to supply us with high quality shoe boxes.

All the beautiful craft brown mailing bags we use to ship our products in are made in Glasgow, Scotland.
