Lacing Up Legacy: LANX Partners with Gloucester Rugby

Grit, passion, and excellence—three things that define both Gloucester Rugby and LANX.

LANX is honoured to become the ‘Official Footwear Supplier of Gloucester Rugby’. With their illustrious history and world class players we are thrilled to be supplying footwear for the players off-field club activities. Just as Gloucester's players leave everything on the pitch, we bring that same dedication to crafting footwear that embodies style and substance.

Our passion for rugby is deep rooted within our ethos, DNA and values here at LANX. We live it. Our continued work within the sport has seen us partner with the Wales RU, Leicester Tigers, Sale Sharks, Wigan Warriors and England RL.

Gloucester Rugby is one of England’s oldest and most storied rugby clubs, deeply rooted in the culture and identity of its home town. From its humble beginnings in the late 19th century to its rise as a powerhouse in English rugby, Gloucester has cultivated a rich tradition of success, community involvement, and passionate support. We couldn’t miss the opportunity to partner with the Cherry & Whites for the 24/25 season and beyond.

I have fond memories growing up watching the great Gloucester teams of the noughties, in particular the team with; James Simpson-Daniel, Anthony Allen, Ryan Lamb and Andy Hazell. To now be partnering with the club is a real pinch me moment.

We wish Alex Brown, George Skivington and his squad all the best of luck for the upcoming season.”

Marco Vaghetti, LANX Founder.

“We’re delighted to partner with LANX, they’re a brand that believes in the importance of connecting with their roots and supporting the community, two things we’re proud to say we do here at Gloucester Rugby.

To kick-off this new partnership, LANX have supplied all our players and match day staff with a pair of their Bayley shoes, which have been really well received. Their smart yet practical shoes mean our matchday staff can look the part whilst taking part in their duties comfortably. We look forward to seeing the relationship grow further in the future.”

-Alex Brown, Gloucester Rugby CEO

A Short History of Gloucester Rugby

The Gloucester Rugby Football Club was founded in 1873, during a time when rugby was evolving into an organized sport across the United Kingdom. The club’s first official match took place at the Spa Ground in 1873, but it wasn’t until 1891 that Gloucester moved to its now-iconic Kingsholm Stadium. Kingsholm would go on to become one of the most intimidating and revered venues in English rugby, famed for its ferociously supportive home crowd at “The Shed”.

The early 20th century saw Gloucester Rugby become a regular fixture in English rugby. Between 1900 and 1914, the club built a reputation for its competitive spirit, consistently challenging some of the best teams in the country. This period also saw Gloucester players selected to represent England in international competitions, further solidifying the club’s standing in the rugby community.

In the 1950s and 60s, Gloucester boasted a number of local talents, including Peter Ford and Dick Smith, both of whom went on to become legends of the club. The team’s style of play, characterised by physicality and aggressive forward play, became its hallmark. Gloucester was known for its powerful scrummaging and tough, hard-hitting approach that intimidated opposition sides.

In the early 2000s, under the guidance of coaches like Nigel Melville and Dean Ryan, and with star players such as James Simpson-Daniel, Andy Hazell, and Mike Tindall, Gloucester consistently challenged for the top spots in the league.

The past two decades have seen Gloucester maintain its position as one of the top rugby clubs in England. The club’s focus has remained on nurturing homegrown talent, and the famed Gloucester Rugby Academy has produced a number of international stars, including Jonny May, Billy Twelvetrees, and Ollie Thorley. The team has consistently competed at the top levels of English rugby, with loyal support from fans who fill Kingsholm week in and week out.

We look forward to working closely with the club during our new partnership and far into the future. If you would like to wear the same boots as Gloucester Rugby then shop our Bayley collection here
