MANUFACTURING
LANX is proud to operate our own Lancashire based footwear factory and also work with a fantastic network of small independent partners who supply us with various; components, leathers, footwear, socks and clothing. Most are located in the UK, some in the same village as us and a few we have to jump on a plane to visit. All our partner suppliers have been visited by a member of the LANX team to inspect working conditions and that they meet our high expectations for manufacturing and employment standards.
Since the outbreak of Covid-19 in 2020 we have found it imperative to not only manufacture our own shoes, but also source footwear, leather and components from a variety of suppliers both in the UK and overseas. The reason for this is to maintain supply of materials and footwear all year round. When one of our partners (or a whole country) has to suddenly stop production we can shift sourcing to another location. Without the supply of continuous materials and footwear our business will cease to exist. Working in this manner allows us to maintain production, a steady flow of income and most importantly save jobs.

The LANX rugby shirt has been in development for 12+ months, largely because we had to search the length and breadth of the UK to find a factory who still made rugby shirts to the very high quality we required. After months of “digging like demented moles”, we stumbled across Roy.
Roy has been in textiles for the last 52 years and his connection with rugby shirts goes back a staggering 30+ years. Back in the 90’s Roy worked with some of the long established names from British sportswear manufacturing, and when one of his previous employers closed down their UK production in the early 2000’s Roy bought their knitting equipment and set up on his own.
Alongside his partner Helen, Roy had produced us a 14 gauge single jersey, in a 310 gram/m2 weight. Each of these rugby jerseys are made with 100% cotton, of which the yarns can be traced back to their Portuguese origins. We know what you're thinking… “They don’t build ‘em like that anymore”. Well Roy still does, and we are very proud to work with him and his team.
All the embroidery on our various clothing pieces is done by a small family owned business in the village of Whalley, 2 minutes from the LANX HQ front door.
