LANX is proud to be working with long-standing Lancashire based waxed cotton supplier, British Millerain. As part of our 2021 British Millerain range we are releasing 3 new men’s styles: a boot, a Chelsea boot, and an Oxford shoe. Each of these 3 styles will be available in a variety of colours, in sizes UK6-12.
The range is all proudly handmade in England with Blake stitch construction, and each style features a rubber Dainite logger sole. Smart-casual, rugged and very British.
For those of you who are not sure who/what British Millerain is, they are a textile company now based in Rochdale, Lancashire who are the original manufacturer of waxed cotton from all the way back in 1880. This is a great material to use for apparel and clothing accessories, as its waterproof properties allowed companies to produce clothing suitable for the rigours of life in the armed forces, to the demands of country pursuits – sort of a 19th Century spin on our slogan “for the boardroom to the bar”!

Over the last 30 to 40 years, British Millerain have introduced an array of equipment and honed techniques in order to maximise their material’s durability. The 80s saw improvements to their finishing quality and strengthening of their textile capabilities, then the procurement of other high performance fabric textile mills and dyeing facilities in the 90s and 2000s, and the addition of in-house digital printing in 2014.
These modifications over time have led to their waxed cotton being perfect for use as both apparel and footwear. British Millerain have gone on to be recognised as a world leader in specialist textiles for outerwear, and are a popular supplier for many well-known brands including Barbour, Belstaff and The North Face.
We first met the British Millerain team a few years ago at Make it British, an event showcasing UK-based manufacturers, and have been throwing around the idea of a collaboration ever since.
We loved that they have a deep heritage in and around the North of England, and that they still produce high quality materials, keeping the textile industry alive in Lancashire (we’ll turn a blind eye to the fact that they are originally from Yorkshire).
The pandemic lockdowns of the past year have given us time to sit down and really develop this range and we’re very excited to finally see it launch.
The LANX British Millerain collection will be available online for pre-order as of 11.09.21.
