LANX | Sale Sharks - Proper Northern

We are proud to announce that we have signed a brand new 3 year deal with Sale Sharks to become the club's ‘Official Footwear Partner’. Under the new agreement we will supply footwear to the club’s players, matchday staff and activate two matchday takeovers at the club's ground, The Salford Community Stadium.

LANX will be taking over matches against Bath Rugby on January 26th and Bristol Bears on May 17th, showcasing LANX throughout the stadium with competitions, talks and pop-up shops.

LANX Founder Marco Vaghetti said: “LANX is very proud to be working with Sale Sharks again.

“Our roots and heritage are very much in the North-West of England and many of our staff support the club. Sale’s motto of ‘Respect All, Fear None’ very much resonates with our own business practices."

“On a personal level I am a Sharks fan and have fond memories of some of the great Sharks teams and players, the likes of Sebastian Chabal, Jason Robinson and Mark Cueto.

“LANX and I are excited to be welcomed back into the Sharks community and to offer the players, staff and supporters the very best footwear for all manner of off the pitch activities.”

Sharks’ Commercial Director Luisa d’Aprano said: “Like Sale Sharks, LANX is a brand that’s incredibly proud to be northern and that shared passion for our roots and our community means this is the perfect partnership. I’m really excited to see what we can achieve together.

“Northern business really does matter and this partnership is another demonstration of our commitment to growing and supporting the very best businesses from our region

“That certainly applies to LANX. The quality of the shoes is fantastic and everyone really looks the part on matchdays.”

Originally founded in 1861 as Sale Football Club, Sale Sharks are one of the oldest existing rugby clubs and have continuously been in England's top division of rugby union since 1995. The team adopted the name ‘Sharks’ in 1999, which is believed to be a reference to the musical West Side Story, which features a street gang known as the Sharks.

The club continued to grow through the 2000s, with the Sharks winning 16 out of 22 games in the 2005/2006 season to finish at the top of the table. That year, they beat fellow LANX partner team Leicester Tigers at Twickenham.

Sale Sharks have seen a steady record of success since then, and in January 2021 former Sharks captain Alex Sanderson returned to his boyhood club to take over as Director of Rugby. The last few years have seen investments in new signings including England fly-half George Ford, and the club’s return to the season-ending Premiership final for the first time in almost 20 years in 2022.

Sale Sharks is now home to many fantastic English players and big international names, such as English hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie, South-African second-row Le Reux Roets, English scrum-half Raffi Quirke, and the Curry Twins: Ben Curry and Tom Curry.

LANX are proud to be working with Sale Sharks once again and look forward to a prosperous partnership as the clubs ‘Official Footwear Partner’.
