At LANX, we’re always designing, sampling, and putting new materials through their paces to see what truly earns its keep. Every now and then, a leather proves itself, not just in the workshop, but with you. Those are the ones we call our ‘signature’ leathers: the materials we use across collections, season after season, because they’ve become firm favourites for good reason.

We recently introduced Walnut into our men’s Craftsman collection, and the response has been strong — strong enough, in fact, for it to earn a place alongside Caramel and Mole as one of our signature leathers, all crafted using hides from our favourite tannery, Charles F. Stead. Our signature leathers are rooted in Stead's leather — materials we trust for their character, durability, and heritage.
When a leather proves itself as Walnut has, there’s only one thing to do: give it a little more room to roam.

We’re excited to introduce Walnut into our men’s made in England Artisan collection, available in two styles: Garstang chelsea boots and Sabden oxford shoes. We are also bringing this colourway across to our men’s made in England Sneakers collection in Ancoats and Didsbury - our two men’s sneaker styles.
Walnut is a versatile shade of dark brown, made using Charles F Stead’s ‘waxy commander’ leather. This is a waxed suede, meaning it wears in beautifully over time, revealing its distressed undertones the more it’s worn.

In addition to Walnut, and as a brand new addition to our leather selection, we are also introducing Oxblood to the mix - a deep red leather using the same ‘oiled shoulder’ leather as the fan favourite, Caramel. This will also be available in Sabden oxford shoes, as well as the Tasker derby boots.

These leathers are supplied by our favourite leather tannery: Charles F. Stead. They’re renowned for producing characterful, distinctive, rugged leathers that don’t just wear in, but tell a story over time. It’s why we’ve trusted Steads across our collections for the last six years, and why our signature leathers all start there.

Caramel, Mole, and Walnut each show a different side of what Steads does best. Caramel, a colour exclusive to LANX, brings warmth and richness, with a tone that develops beautifully as it’s worn. Mole brings a lighter yet unique tone: tough, understated, and built for everyday use. Walnut rounds things out, sitting neatly between the two with a balanced, versatile character.
Our customers love it, our footwear suits it, and most importantly, it all looks better the more it’s worn, picking up marks, movement, and character that make every pair uniquely yours.

We’re all about materials that match our rough and ready, get up and go, get ‘em worn ethos, and Charles F Stead’s leathers do just that. Whether you’re going casual, dressing them up for a smart occasion, or need something that’ll see you through from the morning meeting to the post-work pint, Walnut and Oxblood will do just that and more.
Get’ em worn.
