Hands up, we have been selfish… we designed a range of boots with us (the LANX team) solely in mind. But hold on, don't judge us… we reckon you might like them too.

Back in 2019 I stood in a muddy events field, sharing a post work beer with LANX staff, and noticed all our pristine LANX shoes had taken a beating from the wet muddy fields. Our events team had been doing their best to keep their shoes clean and tidy during the events season, but if truth be told they were fighting a losing battle. So, after a few more beers, the decision was made, we needed a boot that could handle harsh British weather and all that it chucked at us.

We started researching and sketching out ideas immediately, but little did we know at the time it would take us 4 years to design, sample, test, do more tests, and then finally produce the LANX 365 Vibram collection. This is our first offering of footwear for the outdoors, for both women and men.

Hailing from the Ribble Valley in North-West England we aren't short of places to test our footwear. The LANX 365 boots have been on many excursions up Pendle Hill and around the Lake District, which is on our doorstep . The local countryside terrain, combined with a busy outdoor events schedule, has given us the perfect environments to test our new 365 footwear and put them through their paces.

The design mission was straightforward… combine some of our existing popular smart-casual styles with new water resistant leathers and a more rugged outdoors performance focused sole unit. If we could blend these 3 elements together we would have the perfect footwear suitable for any occasion, 365 days of the year.

Unlike traditional outdoor walking boots on the market, our 365 footwear is lightweight and extremely comfortable out of the box, with little breaking in time necessary. The leather choice purposely gives a “worn-in” feel and for added comfort and a premium feel we have used a cushioned leather in-sole. We have also increased the toe-box size, allowing greater comfort and plenty of space for our very own Made in England thick socks.

When selecting a sole we visited some of the best suppliers in the world and eventually settled on the world renowned Vibram, a family-owned Italian company founded in 1937 by Mr Vitale Bramani who is credited with inventing the first rubber lug soles. On a trip with mountaineering friends, Bramani lost six comrades whose studded leather mountain boots didn't have the grip required to hang on the cliff. He realised that the climbers of the time were poorly shod and approached Pirelli (the Italian tyre brand) to design better soles with vulcanised rubber technology. Soon after, Vibram soles were first used on mountaineering boots; indeed the first successful ascent to the summit of K2 was made wearing Vibram rubber on their soles in July 1954.

The Vibram sole we have chosen is called “Ghicaccio”, meaning “Ice” in Italian. It is a trekking-inspired sole unit offering great support and stability and designed with Arctic Grip technology for improved grip on cold, icy or snowy surfaces compared to existing Vibram soles. Its Icetrek rubber compound is resistant to fuel oil and also suitable for indoor wear as it does not scratch surfaces.

The LANX 365 Vibram collection is built to withstand all terrains and conditions. However, let's talk straight, we wouldn't recommend trekking up Mount Everest in them - there is more suitable footwear for these kinds of intense expeditions. Instead we believe our 365 designs are best suited for people with busy and active lives, who would value smart-casual footwear suitable for any environment they happen to find themselves in. Whether you have a meeting in the city, rambling at the weekend, drinks down the pub, on a walk with the dogs, a trip to the local artisan market, or throwing shapes at a muddy festival, you can wear your LANX 365 boots anywhere and to any occasion, 365 days per year.
