It is our pleasure to announce our collaboration with one of UK’s premier rugby league teams - Wigan Warriors; Crowned Champions on 22 occasions, winners of the Challenge Cup 19 times and World Club Champions a record breaking four times.
The collaboration began with providing the Warriors first team with a pair of Shireburns to wear for the Challenge Cup Final at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in May in 2022.
In addition, Kris Radlinski, Matt Peet and Sam Powell styled the shoes as they attended Rugby League’s traditional Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in Central London the day before the Final.
LANX Founder and Warriors fan, Marco Vaghetti, added: “LANX is delighted to work with the world-famous Wigan Warriors. Being a Club fan myself it gave me immense pride seeing our shoes worn during the 2022 Challenge Cup Final Day and all our team are equally proud to create a quality and unique piece of club memorabilia.”
Furthermore, ourselves and Wigan Warriors worked together to design a bespoke brogue for Warriors fans to wear with pride - the Boston Brogue. These limited edition brogues are designed with the Wigan Warriors logo laser etched on the heel, LANX & Wigan Warriors logos on sole, red welt stitching and a co-branded shoe box. These are available to buy in the Warriors club shop or on their website.
The Boston brogue is named after the legend himself, Billy Boston. During his 15-year career, the winger scored a record 478 tries in 487 games, becoming arguably the best known Wigan player of all time. He was honored by the Queen in 1986 and also won the Championship, Challenge Cup three times, the Lancashire League twice, Lancashire Cup and BBC Floodlit Trophy.
Warriors Executive Director, Kris Radlinski, said: “When considering which player we should reference with these wonderful shoes, there was only one winner. The Boston Brogue displays many of the characteristics of the great man himself. Class, elegance and strength. It is incredibly important that you arrive at each game in the correct head space. Seeing our players looking amazing before the Cup Final at Tottenham this year – looking beautiful in their LANX shoes, undoubtedly gave us a feeling of unity and commitment to each other. All these things helped us lift the Challenge Cup trophy.”
