Last weekend it was finally time for the UK’s top country shindig and a show held close to LANX shoes hearts.... The Game Fair.
Now in it’s 66th year The Game Fair is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year, with anyone who is anyone attending and outfits being picked out months in advance. 2024 was the 5th time the event has been held at the prestigious Blenheim Palace in Woodstock and is hailed as a celebration of everything the Great British countryside has to offer.
Marv, Ben, Matt and Michael set off on the almost 4 hour drive down south, from LANX HQ on Thursday, the day before kick off. Stopping on the way for some ‘essentials’, mainly beer and wine for ‘drinks at the LANX shoe shed’ on the Saturday. The sun shone for most of their journey but as they neared their destination, the heavens opened and they were welcomed onto site in true British fashion with a down pour. No one likes setting up in the rain which meant there was only one thing to do, have a beer and wait for the weather to blow over. Within the hour the rain had abated and it was all hands on deck to get the first van unpacked and the stand mostly set up.
Part 1 of set up complete meant a quick pit stop to refuel at a nearby pub while waiting for the LANX Events Managers, Ben and Jacob, to arrive with the second van and the most importantly, footwear, afteribiting at The Welsh Show. With day light well and truly gone, the guys finally arrived to site a 11:40 and set up part 2 could commence. Who said these events where easy? By 1am the brute of the job was done and the lads went for a few well earned hours of kip.
Friday saw a great amount of visitors into the LANX shoe shed, with the sun shinning and the guys busy, the first day ended before they knew it, finishing with a few Aperol Spritz’s in the sun and an early night. By 8:30 Saturday morning the LANX shoe shed was back open and the team were raring to go, fuelled by the prospect that that evening they could let their hair down and enjoy a few free beers with all who stopped by. At 5:30 exactly the tunes kicked in and the beers started flowing, a big thank you to all who came down and enjoyed a drink and a chin wag with us, it was a pleasure to meet you all. Sunday saw perhaps just a few sore heads and a slightly steadier day but what a weekend.
All that’s left to say is here’s looking forward to next year!!
